And the other paintings of Gigers from the same series in the same book that inspired the film "Necronomicon" are as much, in some cases, as 100 times more sexually explicit.

Not_my_intentionDecember 25, 2011
i thought the movie was based on H.P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon, the same book that H.R. Gigers art book is named after.

Me too "42" until I checked it out !
Ya ever see that film?
They made a film of Lovecraft's Book with it's title and I did not like it very much.
and you are so right it is so nice "ZR"

ENOUGH with this "Xenomorph" nonsense.
respect Giger and his art, and call them what he does "biomechanoids"

draekusDecember 25, 2011
Beautiful artwork! (and yes, they are Biomechanoids not xenomorphs). Can't wait to see more of Giger's work made real in Prometheus.

almost "fair enough" Shardy,
But in the end it does not matter because you are 100% correct !
My bad and thank you for keeping me in line, must have been the mushrooms at dinner.

@Spartacus: if i came off like a controlling douche-bag - i apologize, i'm sorry
it just irritates me that Cameron's vapid influence has carried over to this new
film, i know that's not gonna change anytime soon. i just like to keep things
accurate, as they were in the beginning of all this stuff which has now become
iconic in our eyes
great pics by the way, they bring back memories of when i use to go on the hunt
for all things ALIEN related at comic book conventions and sci-fi oriented bookstores
=0)

Those last 3 are my recommended viewing for Frantz !!!
I want him to see what Giger was all about !!!

Thanks for the great post Spartacus.
I was seriously thinking how would it be possible to meet with the Master himself. Would need to stop by in Switzerland I guess :)

SpartacusDecember 26, 2011
yea, those 3 last paintings really do show how "out there" some of his art was and why it is so intimidating to some people. Personally it fascinates me and I find it to be GENIUS like just in it's very conception.

NachoFleischmanDecember 26, 2011
I agree with you all: H.R.Giger is a real genius. And after seeing those pictures I am not surprised of one comment on Quadrilogy DVD's. I think is Dan O'Bannon who told that, in a meeting with Giger: he asked him where he finds his ideas for his paintings and sculptures, and Giger answered him that all those images where in his nightmares, who must be horrible. Then O'Bannon told him that all those images only exists in his mind, and Giger replied to this: "that's what scares to me..."
