I guess the first thing people moan about is "where did that alien egg come?" This to me seems like a pointless argument the story demanded an alien, heck its the title but what I find its best to think there's two eggs. (I know it sucks but that how its gotta be) The other egg could not be revealed as it would spoil the surprise later when we find that Ripley is impregnated.
The fire is a big problem for some, "how did fire take down a battleship?" I guess we have to go with what Bishop says "it was under the sub-flooring" were there are no sprinklers lol
Next is the death of Newt and hicks, I admit it would have been nice to keep them alive but I can't see how. I remember reading somewhere that Ripley was going to sent to prison for the destruction of the colony but then I find it hard to believe that an alien could some-how find its way to the same prison. (that kinda harder to believe then eggs on the Sulaco... "of all of the prisons in all of the universe you had to find mine!")
Saving Newt and Hicks in the crash would bring about to much of a shift in the storyline, it would become more about keeping Newt save from the inmates (no-one wants to see that) and with Hicks their we would lose the relationship between Ripley and Clemens.
The autopsy, I once watched this with my girlfriend (at the time) and she said "oh this scene is awful, can we skip it?" but my thoughts are, that it is a great scene because it shows just how strong of a character Ripley is..... no-one wants to watch some-one being cut up, especially some-one we know and care about. The tears she sheds shows that she's not a heartless cow but some-one willing to do anything to stop these 'things'.
Ripley and Clemens. Some people think that after fighting off hordes of aliens in the last movie and the death of Hicks she wouldn't be 'up for it' or that she used sex as a distraction from Clemen's questions. Is it so hard to believe that maybe she did like Clemens and that's why she didn't tell him anything about the alien? Maybe she just wanted to forget the whole thing and from her point of view there's no evidence that their is an alien among them..... and is that not what we do when we care about some-one, shield them? Even when she does go and see Superintendent Andrews and tells him all she knows she still doesn't tell Clemens...... Why?... I feel it has more to do with her finally feeling like a woman again and not a survivor. Telling Clemens would change her back into being that survivor of something terrible, forever changing the peace she woefully craved for now found in the arms of Clemens. <-smooth
Anywayz I've been up all-night, feeling very sleepy now. I'll write more later......
