reading an article / link posted on a thread earlier here today, i came across those all too cold words from Ash, "it's structural perfection is matched only by it's hostility" hostility - i've heard those words so MANY times over the years, but never really grasped the concept of the alien creatures hostility is the alien simply hostile by nature, or is there another reason...? thoughts...

how about the SJ had got alien DNA and SJ DNA to make the bio-suit and the xeno is a by-product.just a thought....

perhaps...interesting hypothesis there i am (for some random reason) intrigued by the hostile factor here, and wondering if Ridley will address the origins of said hostility in this new film, not with the alien, but with its origins, given that the alien is well represented in the living mural we see in the trailer the plot thickens....

The Alien isn't necessarily "Hostile" , Ash also stated that the Alien has no sense of morality which is a human concept. In the Aliens mind rogering you up against a wall whilst cracking your skull in with its inner jaw is just another sunday morning

I think the xenos were engineered to be hostile, I think the tie-in with ALIEN is that Mr. Weyland knows about the derelict from the events that transpired in the Prometheus movie...I think he may have had something to do with the Nostromo crew being awakened when they were

It basically means it can only be matched by another Alien. Which is a load of rubbish cos they were being blasted away in Aliens left right and centre lol.

Because "ALIENS" Is the work of a DIFFERENT person, and is a good movie but ruined the Alien making it an ant instead of a super strong space rapist. Fuck Cannon !!!

Hostile? Hell no. Imagine if you were just born in a strange place surrounded by weird aliens trying to kill you. The alien in it's natural habitat is probably space Gandhi.

Nonviolence is easier when you have acid for blood.

Hostile by nature. A dog can be hostile towards a stranger but will rarely attack unless it feels threatened. No way does the alien feel threatened by Brett. No way in hell. It's not even hostile in the sense of a predator (not the movie kind) such as a Shark or tiger. It kills Parker and Lambert not for food, not because they are invading its space, just kills them.

it depends on what movie. in alien/aliens they don't really kill people, they use them for reproduction..... with the exception of Parker and Lambert. Lambert was raped to death (probably for the aliens pleasure but i don't really want to think about that *shivers*) and Parker was killed because he attacked the alien. Brett and Dallas were taken for reproduction, same with most of the marines. but in alien 3 it seems that the alien kills for food, because the death scenes in alien 3 to me seem much more like a lioness hunting, pouncing on its prey and mauling them for food...... probably because it was from an animal. then in alien Resurrection....... idk how the aliens in alien Resurrection act, i try not to think about it that much..... the only thing i really remember is that thing getting sucked out into space at the end..... ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

The alien design of ALIEN RESURRECTION seems like a Big Suicidal F U to the franchise. The creature actually blinks adoringly like a purring cat to its mother, and cocks its head like a dog. Seriously Epic Fail!

Brett had a big hole punched in his head. I think that might be a kill.

Sorry meant to add that by equilibrium, I didn't mean any specific psychological intent, but rather genetically-driven behavior. Like in The Matrix, when Agent Smith is torturing Morpheus and he tells him that humans are not really mammals, but a virus: we continue to expand and eat up resources in an area until it's depleted and then merely try to spread to another area. The xeno is like that too, but without the baggage of human emotional and intellectual layers. or something like that. =)

If Prometheus follows Ridley's original concept of the xeno as bioweapon, then it's hostile by design. Everything about this creature seems destructive: - Forcefully impregnates host - Voraciously feeds off host during incubation - "Birth" process is undeniably violent - Seems to kill needlessly quite often (hunted or not) - Acid for blood No attempt to reach equilibrium with neighboring species at all, just kill, reproduce, rinse-wash-repeat.

definition of hostile "not friendly, warm, or generous; not hospitable." how many animals / creatures on earth posses the above traits? next to fuck all. the alien posses the same nature as a human. a virus. the alien is driven by its nature to preserve its species, so it reproduces the only way it can.
