There has been a lot of discussion on the mural, with lot of interesting speculation and very different opinions. Everybody have their own takes on the matter. Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

In the book "At the Mountains of Madness" by HP Lovecraft have a race of alien engineers called the "Elder Things". These beings created life on earth (as the Gods) and then created a creature to use as a slave, "the Shoggoth". Spend time with the slaves rebelled against their masters and extinguished much of the race of gods of space. I've also noticed the crouching figure bears at least a passing resemblance to the crouching forms in the hallway @ 1:17 in the US trailer. Alternatively, maybe this is the space jockey's armor piled up and he's reaching down to grab it and put it on?

the pic with the ´big trunk´ ) under the Giger pic) , idea is funny, but misleading..when you look at the HQ pic [URL=http://www.imagebanana.com/view/2mf61g3u/d3436c7.jpg][IMG]http://img7.imagebanana.com/img/2mf61g3u/thumb/d3436c7.jpg[/IMG][/URL] there you can see the´trunk grooves´ that are rather just fine line structures from the wall..you can see this on the left in the pic, too..

I swear the more I look at the damn thing its like a Warshak Test.. Ok so I looked at it again after [b]trying to not look at it[/b] and I now see this.. A parent chicken /elephant creature and a child bowing to its right. It seemed as if the right elbow was a bit smaller, then I burned the image a bit to see [b]what I wanted to see[/b] and BOOM more speculation and gas for the fire. cough.. sip...butterflies.. If you look at the trailer you can see that Shaw is crying when looking at the mural. I'm guessing that it shows how we were created.

I'm guessing this must be the scene of Shaw talking with Vickers. If any of the "temple" or "temples" theories are correct, The temple could show whatever kind of being that walks in how the SJs played a part in their exsistence maybe? Prolly a longshot.

Well these new images are interesting, but is this what becomes of that scene when the wall apears to be changing.... hence "its changing" then Vickers says "changing into what" Now what if somehow something is being drawn out on the wall, like some kind of message or painting telling a story but using advance technology. So the Wall starts to move as if alive and change into this image right? Now what if this is the same wall that depicts Xeno Mural [img]http://i.imgur.com/uxAo9.jpg?1[/img] Would it then show the Space Jockey Engineer touching this creature it created? Or could it instead stand for a Human who touches some creature and then becomes infected and changes to the Xeno. Thus this Mural is telling the crews fate and future. Crew Members Touch a Creature (the object we assumed was the dead jockeys head, that in other thread sugest could be some kind of Egg/Cacoon). They thus turn into or because of them create the Xeno?

The human form in the mural (if that's what it is) appears to take a "superior" position to the other thing there. Actually, the "thing" to the left almost seems afraid of it, like protecting itself from the humanoid! Could it be that we got it all wrong? Could the SJ be running from us in the first place? Could we have screw them up big time in the past, like trying to kill them somehow? If any of you read comics (I did as a kid, don't have the time anymore...) you may remember that, in the Marvel Universe, the Skrulls visited the Krees with good intentions early in their civilization, just to get stabbed in the back somewhere along the way! Knowing humanity, we could very well have stabbed the SJ species in the back... And the rest will be history once we get to watch Prometheus :D On the other hand, the humanoid could just be a SJ, which changes everything :) ... Just my two cents!

Hi Guys, I'm not sure how to upload an image but I can assure you the creature that seems to be in a foetal position is actually in the hand of the humanoid. you can clearly see 2 fingers and a thumb with fingernails, i think you guys have confused them with the creatures knees.....look again.

NoxWord, what a fantasic set of pics! You have totally got me captivated with the findings of the Giger Alien Lifecycle background inside these images. Indeed, if I may be so bold, I believe you have found the "DNA" of the Alien. How did you do that? Do you have one of those photographic memories? How long did it take you to find that connection? My hat's off to you Dude. I can sleep peacefully tonight knowing that ALL of Giger's imagery will be in this film - from the largest structure (the Pyramid), to the smallest of the small - those writhing, prolific, sentient strands of Alien "DNA".... RS may have taken a page from Lovecraft's "At The Mountains of Madness". In that story, the history of the Elder Things and Shoggoths were depicted via murals in an ancient abandoned Antartic metropolis. Perhaps something similar here for visual vs. spoken exposition.

The thing in the mural is unquestionably a proto-xenomorph. It's arms are identical to the arms of the xenomorph as drawn by Giger, right down to the bones/spikes jutting from the elbows.

Hi all, New to the board, though I've been reading for some time now. That creature in the fetal position reminded me of something, but I couldn't place it until this evening. In the deleted crab walk scene, the Alien is crouching down with it's head between it's legs watching Lambert. Obviously the hand placement different, but I can see this creature and the Alien down in the same stance. Not really sitting, but crouched down with the knees apart and head bowed down.

I agree with DJAB, i think it looks like the being on the left is in the hand of the humanoid. What initially looks like the beings legs/knees are infact the humanoids fingers/hand. I have tried to illustrate what i see on this pic: [img]http://revolutionriot.se/privat/humanoid_holding_alien.jpg[/img] Maybe my pic is not helping that much but have another look at the other pics - i think it looks like a finger tip with a human nail on the right

What I find hysterical is all the people who kept yelling at me, Spartacus "you ass" or "you idiot", or the latest one "Your Mind cannot grasp that there are NO Xenomorphs in Prometheus, Scott has already told us over and over that he won't do it", and bla bla bla frikkity bla bla bla and all of the sudden VOILA, couple of trailers later and we CLEARLY have a XENOMORPH coming to LIFE out of that thing and I WONDER WHERE HAVE ALL THESE PEOPLE GONE? and not only that but all I said was that if we did it would be the thing that Led to development of the one we are used to seeing and that if we saw any Xenomorph the way we remember that creature from Alien it would Only be near the end of this film.

The 10th picture you have on this post appears to me to be the creatures head in an egg or ampule. Could this mural be depicting the melding between human and beast and the deposit of the creation within the ampule. Perhaps the temple is the only true and honest being that is trying to warn the Prometheus crew away. Perhaps this can be linked to the technology of the derelict from Alien. Maybe the creators are long gone. Like some have suggested Ridley is unlikely to be so confident to portray our creators, but maybe he will portray their technology and a race that is trying to manipulate the technology and the human race for their own benefit.........

wallodis illustration is good but where you've got humanoid knuckle I think its another finger tip and where the text "humanoid forearm" is written there is another fingertip. I think our view point is from the bottom of a riverbed because I can see ripples where his arm has entered the water these are in the top right corner of wallodis image. i think its a picture of an sj removing something from or putting something into water. the original xenomorph was based on sea life at the very depths of the ocean. its probably some kind of holographic story of the origins of life, we're being removed from our primordial soup. imho ;P

Yep, still don't think there's a true Xenomorph in the movie. Unless something groundbreaking happened, as I've been away from the forums for a few weeks. o also, your mind cannot grasp that there are NO Xenomorphs.

I think the xeno will be in the film but it will be entirely different. We need to forget about what the xeno looks like in other films and think about what the creature actually is. Most life forms on our planet breed by exchanging genetic material with other members of the same species. This results in further generations looking pretty much the same. The xenomorph breeds by exchanging genetic material with members of other species resulting in an almost completely different lifeform depending on heretage. The xeno is not a parasite as some believe. If it were a parasite conception would need to take place before incubation, just like a wasp laying it's eggs in a caterpillar. In the case of the xeno conception occurs while the "facehugger" is latched onto it's victim. To get to my main point. If the SJ are scientists that are somewhat obsessed with genetic engineering and gene splicing, the discovery of species that splices genes as a part of it's natural process would be a "holy grail" discovery. All their technology could be based on this one creatures natural process. In a way the xeno would be worshiped.

From a design stand point, the columns or wall beams seem to be forming a groin vault within the dome. This mural is within one of these areas. If this is the only mural it would make since for it to be located across from big head. But i think it is only one of sevral murals. Each groin area having a different image.

How about this as a possible explanation: the creature is sleeping and the engineer is escaping or stealing something. Perhaps, the engineer has stolen a vase of goo while a gaurdian was asleep, similar to the Promethean myth. The temple shows an alter to a xenomorphic entity and appears to be part of the original installation. The human-like head stands in front of the mural, as if the old god was replaced by a new. The new human head alter is surrounded by vases. Vases which may be the source of power that propelled the engineers to parity with the old gods.
