What about if it is Shaw the character of the mural?

Interesting, could be an allegory definitely, we still don't know if the Engineers or Space Jockeys have religion or what kind of society they have, for all we know this could be some kind of prophecy or a warning or displaying of what happens to someone infected. Can't wait for the movie, thanks for bringing this topic up.

Yeah, i think Spacejockeys have a Prophecy reflected in that mural. You can see the Alien Giger cycle in that mural and i am pretty sure they knew what will happen in the future because the xenomorph it´s showed in the changing mural in the trailer and also on the original Alien´s Giger cycle you can see the squid going out from the shaw belly, the worm in the eye of Holloway, the chestburster going out from spacejockey, etc...

I think I see David sniffing the flowers in that bit of strata there.
Look closer, it's there.

Was coming here to scoff at your ridiculous idea, but I can't.
They do look remarkably similar.

And the mural looks very Giger-esque and there seems to be, judging by the trailers alone and what Scott mention in March in the AMC interview, that recurrent theme of transformation or in Ridley's words "a story of evolution".
Giger's paintings in the Necronomicon have strong themes such as these, the Alien or "Xenomorph" is a perfect organism that can be transformed from anything and transform anything.
Yes Kapital, the squid thingy coming from Shaw's belly reflects this Giger-esque ideas, also very Lovecraftian. Maybe it also indicates Shaw is the mother of doom so to speak.
