Maybe if it was set on a sink estate and directed by Ken Loach The Guardian might've been more positive. Very strange review which seems to contradict itself.

I'd wait for the reviews from BH Empire Magazine Total Film

Looking good though... 5 major newspapers giving; THREE Reviews = 4/5 TWO Reviews = 3/5 Yes, awaiting Empire and Total film.. I know a few from the BBC are going tonight in London.... There was a screening this afternoon methink...

Yep im anticpating Empire and Total Film, they know how to write reviews. I find newspaper reviews to be very narrow minded and like you said Diddly Squat - contradict themselves. Dont listen to newspapers they rate sh*te 5's and epic films always 3's.

I'm not always that impressed with Empire's reviews. Any magazine that gives a movie like Forrest Gump five stars is not always the most reliable. Mind you, it's been a while since I read it. Kim Newman was always someone I generally rated.

Empire dish out too many 5 star reviews...but I do enjoy their critiques Whats the common denominator in all the reviews.....positives: spectacular to look at, standout performance from the Fass, bonkers enjoyable ride The only negatives seem to be some pacing issues, its open ended, and maybe too much going on for a two hour film...those arent issues for me...in fact it screams 'own on blue ray and get the extended cuts'

@JP it's what happens when you love film...there are loads of movies which were flops critically and financially but I would give 4/5 easily: The Sphere Alien Rez (don't hurt me) Strange Days Antichrist The Cell Solaris etc etc....
