Quote from wiki:
The earlier start in these countries was timed to avoid competition with the start of the UEFA European Football Championship the following week

That's all well and good but why not bring it forward worldwide?? You've not really answered the question

Well, I'm from Europe so I'm definitely happy lol.
But yes they could have shown it to Americans along with Europeans. At least I can't see why not..

I think it should have - although - how many movies and TV shows get released in America before Europe? loads! lol - I think it should have been released world wide though.

I,m from Spain, Prometheus will be released here in August(2 months far away)
but with all these bad reviews, disappointment,etc..i,ve decided not going to see it, If the movie have had the same release worldwide, same date everywhere, they(fox and co.)could have had my money, but now it,s too late

Yeah, a "universal" release date would have been better. I'm sitting here in California, reading everyone bashing Prometheus........waiting for my turn. (j/k)

I have to admit I don't like the movie as much as I'd hoped but you have to see it to make your own mind up I've seen it twice now hated it 1st time but it has grown on me after a 2nd view
Make your own mind up but it has to be seen on a big screen

From Florida, I will still see it and avoid spoiler reviews. I just have to decide to go Imax or standard 3D. Don't think I'll spend the extra $$ now that most seem unhappy. Had they released on same day those like me would have spent the extra to go Imax.

Maybe FOX didn't want it opening the same weekend as MIB 3, a PG-13 sci-fi.

Honestly, im not upset that Fox released the movie earlier for Europe. I actually thought that was cool. Its just harder for us Americans who are a part of this site and wanna be somewhat blinded until we get into the actual movie on thursday night.
