As prometheus played out eg the engineer not dying in the chair as he was found in alien . Also the ship in alien was alot bigger. I suspect that it is not the planet.

NOT THE SAME PLANET

Snork, why is this a question all the time? No offense pulserifle187, it's just that I see it a lot and not only here but the whole Internet...
LV223: somewhat hostile environment with a deacon on the loose.
LV426: Even more hostile environment (and it looks like a sac of bones) and has the potential of having thousands of Aliens (Host + Egg = Alien).
Both are in different orbits...

Don't worry people I myself am working on a Prometheus FAQ that will answer all of these "Noob" questions.

Worst aspect of the film.
When you see that famous ship crashing in the trailers, just what are people supposed to think ?
The number of crashes these ships seem to end up in, imagine their insurance premiums..

I didn't get the feeling that they were the same planet,,because of different the terrain was..
Yes the Juggernaut was similar in both films,,but when watching Prometheus,,I thought it presented a quite different planet/moon that Alien..
It sort of reminded me of 'Dune' where each of the 4 planets had entirely different atmosphere/surface features..so you knew the location of the scene by the landscape..

@ centurian_slug
And their insurance premiums are hiked even further by the phony whiplash claims. Could be that’s why the poor SJ on LV426 crashed. He thought he’d make a killing while on his way to a killing. Just an extra bit on the side and … whoaaaa! Who put that g*dd*m planetoid there?
Maybe our creators are inter-galactic insurers and, boy, do they hate all those phony whiplash claims people have been throwing in!

@Centaurion slug.....
When you see that famous ship crashing in the trailers, just what are people supposed to think ?/quote]
That still pisses me off how Fox did that just for people to think it was the same ship.

I literally laughed out loud at this.

sorry for my 'noob question...but there are way too many similarities , i guess i just needed it clarified.
About the insurance premiums....i guess the payment wouldn't be too bad because the ship always remain relatively intact....maybe just abit of panel beating
