Engineer seeing what we've become. . .

When the Engineer killed David etc in the hologram/pilot chair room, does anyone else think he reacted in such a violent way cause he realised how far life on Earth, more importantly, humans have come?? I still believe that they seeded life on Earth as an experiment, as they seem to have an obsession with creating mutating goo. . . Ideas?
