Its all about the Moolah! As far as i am aware here are some of the edits and cuts that was made to Prometheus there may be others... 1) Sacrificial Engineer Scene: This scene was longer, it appears we would seen more of the saucer craft, we see about 8 Engineers inc Elders, we see two Elders have a dialog with the Sacrificial Engineer and then hand him the bowl of goo. Then off he goes over to the edge of the cliff to the water fall and then takes the substance. I think Ridley left this out because he wanted to keep the mystery of the Elders and i feel that is because this is the direction he would be going with the sequel. I would not be surprised if this full scene makes it to the sequel. 2) Fifield...the Alien Hybrid and not Toxic Avenger There are a number of concept works and props that depict a hybrid Fifield one where we can see more Xeno DNA in his mutation, the production crew said they had worked on some animatronics and that one actor had a fair share added to his make up and body, Also they shot a CGI render of the attack scene. I think these was changed in favor of Toxic Avenger Fifield as the others may not only not looked quite right but also had too much Xeno DNA which i think Ridley wanted to save for the Trilobite and its attack on the Engineer and Deacon, this may be why we never saw much of the Hammerpedes aswell. 3) Engineer meets David. When the Engineer is awoke by David this scene has been cut, there is supposed to be a few lines of dialog thats two ways between David and the Engineer. We are only shown what was said last when David relays what Weyland wanted to ask. Which is why the scene looks odd, as the Engineer appears intrigued then just goes berserk. I think Ridley left edited it because the dialog once translated would give some answers that Ridley wants to save for Prometheus 2. 4) Engineer vs Shaw Again another scene that looked odd and never flowed because a fair share was cut and edited. The Engineer actually confronts Shaw in Vickers Quarters and then grabs her by the throat and lifts her up, apparently Shaw gets the better of him with the help of the Axe and the Engineer drops Shaw to the floor and then when he recovers he picks her up and pushes her against the wall... Que release of Shaws Baby from door behind her. This was edited as Ridley felt it made the Engineer look diminished compared to Shaw, where Ridley wanted to keep him looking mean and menacing. 5) Various cuts to reduce Gore and Violence so movie can be shown to under 18s Ridley said the movie had a number of horrific and gory scenes that had to be cut or changed so the movie could pass a lower certificate at the box office. We did have rumors of some gruesome deaths that well we never saw in Prometheus and may answer some questions to why in one featurete they had CGI Fords head. I recon that the Fifield Attack and Engineer Attack scenes on the crew may have had a alternative and far more gruesome version that was changed.
