Sending aliens to Earth. Really?

I'm not sure the situation is as straightforward as it appears. The idea that they were planning to destroy us came from Janek, but Lindelof (the writer) hinted in [url=http://www.slashgear.com/ridley-scott-talks-prometheus-with-slashgear-candid-uncut-02231334/]an interview[/url] that Janek might be mistaken about that: [quote][i]The movie demonstrates what [the black goo] does in certain circumstances. The intent has to be to wipe us out, or is it to evolve us, or is it for something else?[/i][/quote] In the scene where Charlie starts to get really sick, and they're racing back to the ship, you can see the skin on his face bubbling, and it looks a lot like the skin on the Engineer's head from the operation scene. Ford & Shaw said that the cells of the Engineer's head were undergoing some kind of change/mutation. They show Charlie's face again, right before he gets torched, and he is all pale and dark-eyed - as if he was mutating into an Engineer. Take that, plus the 2000 yr old dead bodies (Jesus), plus the cup of alcohol that David put the drop of goo into (wine representing his blood), and I think there's a reasonable case to be made that they were coming to earth to "convert" us. There's also the hologram that shows the Engie's preparing to leave for earth, and none of them look like theyr'e on a war mission. They're speaking very calmly to each other, and it looks like just a routine mission for them. It might be that they kept humans like a stock of cattle or something, and if their numbers were low for whatever reason, they would come and morph some of us into them, so they could continue. However, that doesn't explain their worship of the deacon, who is clearly a product of the black goo + human male + mating w/female + squid baby infecting an engineer. I think we only got the tip of the iceberg with Prometheus, and although we can draw some conclusions from the information given, it's just not enough to suss out the whole story.

The idea was not to kill with parasitic snakes, but to permit new life to start in place of that already on Earth. That humanity would die, was part of this.

We need to look at what the Engineers had done from day 1... Now Ridley hinted that scene could be anywhere it does not have to be earth, thus showing us the Engineers seed their DNA on many worlds. Ridley also said that they do this because they choose to do so and it is not the only means they can create life. Ridley said they have visited mankind over the years to upgrade our genome over years until a point that mankind had upset the Engineers 2000 years ago, where they then decided to use the Goo in the Urns on us.... I have covered this a number of times but the chances are the Goo the Sacrificial Engineer had taken and that in the Urns is not the same. So the movie shows that the Engineers seeded their DNA to start Evolution, they may have performed more similar upgrades over time and eventually maybe more directly... i.e not drop Goo or Sacrifice a Engineer to affect every Organism. But maybe at a point taken the favored advanced organisms from their experiment and selected these to then be upgraded, so we could have Monkeys upgraded with Engineer DNA to give us Apes, then Apes upgraded with Engineer DNA to make Early Mankind etc.. If the Engineers wanted to reset us, they only needed to drop a specially mixed urns with Engineer Goo to essentially reset and mutate life to again start a new evolution based on Engineer DNA. For some reason, at very least the LV 223 Engineers worshiped of held a Xeno-Esque Organism in high regards and they either knew of it as a Weapon and was trying to Re-Weaponize it for safer use and storage, or they had began to Worship such Organisms and attempted to experiment on it to produce the Goo to then try and make life that takes on the image of the Xeno as opposed to the Engineers. Maybe they favored Mankind and taught us stuff and so we worship them, but they also found a new favored organism that they admired and while they had created Mankind and life on Earth with the Goo, they conducted more experiments in trying to recreate and experiment with the Xenos Ancestor. Maybe a fraction got obsessed and saw that the Xeno was more perfect Organism than there own kind, and tried to Evolve their Race or Create a new race based on the Xeno or mix of Xeno and Engineer. Once Mankind had upset the Engineers, they got upset and deemed us not worthy to live and decided they would use us as a mass experiment to try out the new Goo they created. Its a case of a kid has Toys he gets bored with, finds a new Toy he likes to play with, and then when ultimately he gets fed up and upset at his old Toy he decides he wants to see what happens if he can change his old Toys to be like his new ones.
