One of the things we know about Alien Covenant is it's the first in a planned trilogy, but is Ridley Scott going to direct them all, should he direct them all?One if the biggest problems with the Star Wars prequels was that unlike the originals George Lucas directed them front to back, thus allowing for virtually no outside help that could have helped filter his ideas and make them better. Now it's to early to tell if Covenant will live up to expectations(hopefully it does)but im certain there are a lot of fans that wish he backed of after Prometheus and allowed some newer talent into the series. After all it's worked before with Aliens, and he's also passed on Blade Runner to newer hands.Should he direct the next few, should he try new directors? One thing I've thought is maybe Neill Blomkamp could do one if these sequels, prove he can work with the series before he can make his Alien 5.What do you guys think?Who do think could be a good choice to direct an Alien film should Ridley pass it another?

If i had to back up a new director,I'd say Denis Villenueve.Ridley's trusted him with Blade Runner 2049,Arrival has become one of the award season's top films, and he just might get the Dune job.Alien would complete the circle. After all Alien was a result of the demise of Jodowrosky's Dune(H.R. Giger and Dan O'Bannon were both working on the film when they met.)Ridley was even attached to making Dune after Alien and before Blade Runner.Villenueve might be the right choice.

I can totally see Villenueve directing an Alien film, or Rian Johnson. Both these directors have made pretty darn dark and critically acclaimed films.

Rian Johnson would be great too,im curious to see what he can do with Star Wars. While i haven't seen Arrival yet,I have seen Prisoners and Sicario and they're both fantastic.Blade Runner 2049 is the movie im the most excited about next to Alien Covenant this year.

Also Neomorph, both Johnson and Villenueve were approached for Terminator Genisys.I can't help but wonder at what may have been if either of them got the job, especially Johnson.Looper already borrowed heavily from Terminator.

It would've turned out fantastic I'm sure, I still think Genisys is an OK popcorn flick but oh boy how the outcome could be better with above mentioned directors.

Looper was a surprise to me, what an amazing film!

Alien Covenant, VIII: The Last Jedi, and Blade Runner 2049 are the three films I'm mostly looking forward to.

Honorable mentions: Kong Skull Island and Justice League

My top 3 are identical.I like Terminator Genisys more than T3 and Salvation, but those two would have done a much better job. Some honarable mentions of mine:Ghost In The Shell regardless of the controversy,War For the Planet of the Apes(curious what they're doing with Nova)and while i'm not a Marvel fanatic, there offerings this year are promising.I actually haven't seen any of the recent DC movies.

I'm going to have to go with Danny Boyle on this one. He brings something to his films that is similar to what Ridley and Blomkamp bring to theirs. 28 Days Later and Sunshine were excellent.

Excellent choice's.Sunshine has a heavy Alien vibe to it.28 Days Later is a masterpiece,Which brings me to my next suggestion.Alex Garland, not only is he the writer of those films,he also wrote the very underrated Dredd, and most of all,his excellent directorial debut Ex Machina.I'm very excited about his next film Annihilation.
