...was a pretty decent story wrapped in typical 80's style pseudo tongue in cheek cheese and bad acting. Any of you seen this?

I rather enjoyed the story! I cannot believe I missed it the first time round. Good stuff, generally.

Probably the best way to sum up the quality of this film is to listen to what Dan O’Bannon said after he watched Dead and Buried, whose script he co-wrote with Ron Shussett.

O'Bannon commented that he was embarrassed by it, yet also had a great time watching the finished product. His embarrassment was because the explanation for what is happening is kind of weak, and therefore unsatisfying, leading people to think the plot makes little sense. Although actually, I think the story makes perfect sense......in a way!

Watch it and you'll understand what I mean by that. ;)

This movie was on the video nasty list. Aside from that, there’s a genuine atmosphere of horror with awful things happening to some of the characters. The final twist involving the main character, the Sherriff, played by James Farentino, truly is both shocking and tragic.

It’s super gory in really cool and creative ways. Stan Winston created the make-up/special effects. Flawed yes, nevertheless it's perversely enjoyable.
