Exploring human nature through the eyes and minds of synthetics- should Alien go this route?

As much as I like the Xenos/Neos etc, I really enjoy how non humans make observations about human behavior and even conduct themselves as more humane/human at times. Cases in point- David and Walter; Spok and Data from the ST shows and countless Twilight Zones and Outer Limits episodes. Blade Runner comes to mind as well. Would you like to see this focus continue?

For that to happen there must be a renew in the Sci fi genre as whole, or at least the script to be given to some who does not say it is a minor genre.

joylitt You can dismiss the review I mentioned but know that I only cited it to highlight that the movies age well.

I agree with your sentiments on the movies- Aliens was my first and was a game changer- however, our stories are only anecdotal in this thread.

It looks like we got OT from the OP- but I am ok with it since the discussions are engaging and things have been respectful.

I no longer see where to take this thread. Seems it was about continuing the series through the eyes of synthetics.

red0guy@gmail.com I like the mean spiritness- it goes against the grain and rubs people the wrong way and takes chances. That is likely why it falls short in box office and popcorn sales. I really don't care about sales. I like movies like that. If they fizzle out of theaters and find a home in streaming services- I am totally on board with that.

dk sorry for going off topic. Anyway, if our opinion were so irrelevant Alien and Aliens wouldn't be on the imdb top 250 since like forever. Aliens is #65 and Alien is #51. And they compete with every new movie. No other Alien movie made it there.

If this is what you really like "Morgan" is going to be right up your alley. It is directed by Ridley's son. Maybe you can catch on Netflix. It is basically David's story while growing up even though Morgan is a girl.

One reason why AC was disappointing in a way was because of the focus on AI at the expense of humans. When I watched AC I realized how important it is to have human characters that we as an audience can see ourselves in. Don’t make the same mistake again.

This is not to say that we shall have a focus of 85% on humans but it must have a better balance than Alien Covenant gave us.
