I made several screenshots but I couldn't post them all here so I've uploaded them here.

A few days ago I noticed something when I watched AC again. After T rescued them there's a short scene of the Covenant, filmed from above. And beneath I saw this and it struck me! You can see clearly lines and bows on the planets surface.* This could enhance the theory, that these beings where indeed the engineers and this was their homeworld. The black dude on the covenant said that the star of that planet was very old - which implies them beeing the engineers.
Yet I'm still undecided. To me there are two theories:
a) These are the engineers, this is their homeworld.
b) These beings are the creation of the engineers - just like the humans. But unlike with humanity the engineers didn't break contact but continued visiting them. Maybe they even blended with their creation. See the top picture. There are three characters whose skin is more green than beige. Also the both dudes in pic 2 and pic 3 (red circle) do not even closely look like engineers, despite them having no hair and eyebrows. Their noses are in no way characteristic for what we have seen in prometheus. Their skin is much more beige but this could be due to them getting "brown" by the sun every day, whereas the engineers in prometheus have spent most of their time in hazardsuits and spaceships and so on.
BUT
the most obvious thing - and I just cannot believe that this should be an oversight, this is simply impossible - is that they have human eyes. Not black eyes as the engineers.
I hope that this is not the homeworld of the engineers. Personally I would have preferred it, if RS wouldn't have shown the bombing scene but would leave the audience guessing, wondering what the hell happened on this planet. Is this what would happen to humanity? Are these engineers? Is there a war between the engineers? Everything - from RS comment back in the 70s that the juggernaught must be a bomber and the eggs must be its cargo, to the whole movie of Prometheus, with the duality between god and satan / olymp and Prometheus - seemed to indicate this. I would even like the idea, that the engineers are extinct and several of their creations followd their track and try to walk in their footsteps, become creators themselfs, get the secretes and technology of the engineers and they are batteling each other or something like that. One of these factions could be the biomechanoid ones. Anyways, RS decision to making David just dropping the ooze on them just seems lame to me. No mystery left, no wondering, no marvel. Just a robots whose circits poped and he has become insane, crazy due to a lack of maintenance. And there is nothing to discover within madness, full stop.
All in all the movie was okay but I remember very well the feeling when walking out, thinking: this is it? Thats the whole story? How disappointingly unimaginative.
So what do you think? Were these the engineers?
*This would enhance the theory, that these humanoids where the creation of the engineers and not the engineers themselfs, because, as Holloway pointed out: god does not built straight lines - so neither on LV 233 nor on Planet 4 the humans would meet their creators.
